The busiest Devon County cups day of the season and goals galore

Mixed fortunes everywhere on the road to a County final

Last season East and mid Devon teams scooped all the five major Devon County cups with Tiverton Town and Exeter University lifting the St Lukes and Premier trophies, Topsham Town winning the Throgmorton Champions cup and Cronies and the Royal Oak winning the  Firewatch Devon Senior and Intermediate cup respectively.

Mixed fortunes for D & E teams and far too many to highlight, but the biggest surprise was the weather stepping in to force a number of postponements. In the Senior cup Halwill and Sidmouth Town Res had their home ties rained off and the same happened to Kentisbeare and Newton Poppleford away from home. The tie between Central and Amory Green Rovers which was abandoned at half-time (although not due to the weather) but may have to be replayed although Central were six up.

In the league Elmore are again clear leaders in Premier after crushing Clyst Valley 9-0, Upottery stunned Heavitree 4-3 and it finished all square between Cronies and Newtown.

Newton St Cyres and Beer shared six goals.

Lyme Regis produced an upset in the East Devon Senior cup beating Feniton 3-2.

Ottery St Mary and Sandford were about to start their Division Three clash when the town suffered a cloudburst and the pitch was flooded, leaving the ref little choice but to call the game off.
