John was until recently a League Committee member until ill health limited his attendance but his contributions were always constructive and welcome.

The club have sent the following tribute to and the Devon & Exeter league sends condolences to all his family and many many friends.

Chagford Football Club is mourning the loss of longstanding Club Secretary John Pearce who died peacefully in hospital on Sunday evening following a long battle with ill health. A passionate supporter of youth and grassroots football, John became Secretary of Chagford F.C almost immediately after he moved to Chagford 16 years ago. He also served on the management committee of the South Devon Football League during the time the club competed in that competition. Despite his ill health John was instrumental in signing players and helping to build the first team into strong contenders for promotion this season. John was always positive, provided sound and practical advice, and was a tremendous ambassador for Chagford F.C. He was totally dedicated to our club for many years and always looking for ways to move the club forward. He will be sorely missed and our thoughts are with his wife and family at this difficult time.
