Three goal Premier League victory on debut day for Cronies

Deja vu at Edge Down Park for the Cronies

Cronies made their Premier league debut at Edge Down Park on tuesday evening and chalked up their first ever three points at this level winning 3-0. Ironically it was against fellow promoted rivals Witheridge Res from Division One last season when they also won 3-1 at the start of that campaign. Cronies have already maintained their winning habit with two cup victories, but now they have points in the bag and time will tell how much of a force they will be at this level.

Last saturdays swift review

Just a few months after Cronies defeated Roselands in the Firewatch Devon Senior cup final, and the pair met again in the first round of the Throgmorton Devon Premier cup on saturday 9th September and were again too hot for the South Devon League side winning 6-1. Victory means that the Cronies will now visit Budleigh Salterton in the second round next month.

Elmore beat Hatherleigh Town 5-0 in another round 1 tie, but Clyst Valley were no match for vsitiors Bere Alston who smashed eight past the hosts without reply.

Three Firewatch Devon Senior ties were also on offer today Bampton getting past D & C Autos from Plymouth 2-1 while Tipton St John went down 4-1 at home to Buckfastleigh. No news from Bickleigh who were due to face Pennycross Social Club, but hopefully they did play. Result in at last but Buzzards out 6-5.

Okehampton Argyle were 3-1 winners at Exmouth Town Res and join their victims and Elmore as joint Premier leaders. First win for Heavitree with plenty to spare against Seaton, but Topsham led throughout at Beer before going down 5-4.

Newton St Cyres stunned Feniton 6-1, and there was a humdinger of a game at Upottery where Newtown shared ten goals.

Division One leaders Lyme Regis yet to concede a goal after four straight wins.

In Division Two Crediton Reserves belted 14 goals into the robins nest at Budleigh, but that was a shadow of the 20-0 win by Bravehearts in their Division Six match at home to Axminster Towns 3rd team
