Cronies into last 16 of Premier cup Town nine points clear in Premier

Not too many rockets and bangers about in the Senior and Intermediate cups, but lots of sparkling results

Cronies followed up their impressive 5-2 league victory against Colyton last Saturday with a 3-0 victory against the same opponents at home to stake a place in the last 16 of the Throgmorton Devon Premier cup. However they are the League’s last hope for cup glory with Feniton, Heavitree United and Witheridge all bowing out.

Premier leaders Newtown soared nine points clear after a hard earned 2-0 win against Lyme Regis, only Exwick Villa keeping pace as they saw off Topsham Town 5-0.

Clyst Valley dug deep to beat Hatherleigh Town in the East Devon Senior cup, while Lympstone gunned down previously unbeaten Royal Oak to progress in the Bill Slee cup.

Half the teams in the last 16 of the Devon Senior cup will be D & E sides Whipton & Pinhoe leading the assault with a great comeback to knock out Broadmeadow 3-2. Cup holders Sidmouth Town won 5-1 at Tedburn St Mary, and Alphington raised a few eyebrows as they shot down the University 4-2.

The League can also boast 7 places inn the last 16 of the Devon Intermediate cup Spreyton and Upottery looking hugely confident with big wins and Elmore 3rds continuing to uphold the club pride as they chase the trophy won by their Reserves last May.
