Nearly 2000 players have been registered on the Whole game system, and that figure is likely to continue rising over the next few weeks. Just a reminder that the Premier division kicks off on Saturday 18th August and the Senior and Intermediate divisions a week later Saturday 25th. Clubs should also be aware that in September they will probably have priority County cup ties to face, and we will publish them as soon as the draws are made public.

Clubs will also need to appoint texters in the Whole Game system to report results. I have over the last few weeks been trying to get this sorted but some clubs are still without choices despite completing their handbook forms ok.

Another tribute being paid by Sandford football club to long service secretary Krissie Symons-Knight from her replacement Adam Voisey.  I would Just like to thank my predecessor Krissie Secretary of Sandford FC after nearly 20 years in the role. Krissie has done a sterling job for the club these last number of years, she has now decided to hand the reigns over to myself. Without Krissie’s input the club would not have been able to obtain the wonderful new facilities it now has. She worked tirelessly with the local community also, and the club now has two thriving sides competing in the league. Thank you very much Krissie for all your dedication and hard work, I certainly have big shoes to fill!
Adam Voisey new Secretary Sandford FC

Rod Hill has stepped aside as manager of Dunkeswell Rovers FC, to be replaced by player manager Sid Berry and Brian Cann. Dunkeswell Rovers, now look forward to a new chapter, but wish to thank Rod and his companion Stu Ward for their involvement throughout a period of time that has outlasted even the reign of Arsene Wenger. Rod has been involved with Dunkeswell FC all his life as his Father and 3 uncles all played for Dunkeswell FC and even as a toddler he regularly went to all their matches. He himself started playing for Dunkeswell FC at the age of 14, over 30 years ago. He did leave to play for Ottery St Mary FC at the age of 16 who at the time were playing in the Western league for 3 seasons during which time they won the league championship. After playing for Ottery St Mary and also Devon under 18’s team, he returned to play for Dunkeswell FC under the management of his uncle Nick Broom and after Nick`s unfortunate accident in 2000 he took over as player/manager for Dunkeswell until his recent resignation. He has also been the secretary of the club since 2006.
The treasurer throughout that time has been Stuart Ward who has offered invaluable assistance to Rod with Stu himself playing for Dunkeswell since circa 1988 right up to the previous season where he was called upon for his playing services for the club. Between the pair of them, it is believed they played more than 1,000 times for the club.
Rods nephew Lewis Blackwell has also featured for Dunkeswell FC last season sharing the pitch with his uncle on many occasions throughout the season.
Dunkeswell Rovers start pre-season training in July and welcome any players new or old. Contact Sid Berry on 07983 140370.
