University keep Colyton waiting

Division One leaders suffer their first league defeat in the biggest league game in their long history. All thursdays result see below

Colyton hopes of clinching the Division One crown were halted by the University in a quality match at Topsham Road on thursday. The students won 3-1 to keep alive their hopes of the title but they only have one game remaining, whereas Colyton still have four to obtain the one victory needed to cross the winning post. Strangely there were few spectators at the University to witness Colytons biggest ever league game, but they will hope they can finally get their reward at Wellington on saturday.

Newtown made sure of third place in Premier following their 4-1 victory against ground sharing hosts Newton St Cyres.

The Royal Oak secured a top three finish in Division Three after a 4-1 success at Sandford but the University who beat Clyst Valley 3-1 still need a win from their last two outings to be champions.

Black Swan Town and Elmore made sure of a top three finish in Division Five thanks to easy away wins at Dunkeswell and Culm United respectively, while Bravehearts 1-1 draw against Bampton Res in Division Six means Exmouth Spartans are assured of third place behind champions Upottery Res and Sidmouth 3rds.

Bradninch Town are through to the final of the Golesworthy Cup following their 3-0 semi final victory against Seaton Town Res at Ottery.

The other semi final is at Ottery on friday night between East Budleigh Res and Upottery Res
