Queens Head back from Plymouth with a victory

Exeter team return from Plymouth with their place booked in the next round of the Intermediate cup

The Queens Head returned victorious from their journey to Plymouth with a place in the next round of the Devon Intermediate cup after a 2-0 success at Central Park Rangers.

The win followed up Exwick Villa’s 3-2 win against Millbridge in the first round of the Devon Premier cup on friday night so a good start for the two city teams in the county cups.

Saturday saw the first and second rounds of the East Devon cups with the biggest game at Topsham where Cronies avenged their Senior cup defeat against Newtown by knocking their rivals out 1-0.

No upsets anywhere but first division Bickleigh did take Premiers Newton St Cyres to penalties before losing 4-2.

The Bill Slee cup holders Thorverton had to sweat to better North Tawton 5-3, but no problem for Ottery St Mary who rattled up double figures in their first round tie against Beer Res.

Double figures also for Central in the Express Cup against a rather sorry Dunkeswell Rovers, while holders Lyme Regis made the quarter finals after winning at Bampton Res 6-2.

Newcomers Black Swan Town are out after going down 6-2 at home to Exwick Village.

However newly formed Exeter United won their Geary cup second round tie 3-1 against Tedburn Res.

Double figures for Lapford in Division One as they routed Heavitree Res, and Lyme Regis hit neighbours Chard Town Res for six without reply in the same division.

Pinhoe and Budleigh Salterton Res turned up to find they were locked out of the changing rooms and no nets had been erected. However they eventually sorted matters and the pins won their Division Three match 4-2.

New boys Spreyton kept their fine start going with a 4-1 win against Bradninch Town in Division Seven, but Willand XI foundered 3-1 at home to Lapford Res.

Great day for Amory Park Rangers – both their teams won at home side by side.
