ALL SATURDAYS CUP ACTION
OCTOBER 14
There was no joy for Farway United at Bovey Tracey Res where they went out of the Devon Senior cup 3-0. Bovey are the current Devon Intermediate cup holders and Farway were winners in 2020 but this next meeting at senior status saw the South Devon League side emerge victorious.
There was no faraway joy for Lyme Regis Res either, who suffered a 6-0 defeat away to Bournemouth (Saturday) Development team in the Dorset Intermediate cup. The round trip of well over a 100 miles must have made it a long day for the Fort Davey side.
There was plenty of great action in the first round of the Bill Slee cup with a dozen ties played and some interesting upsets. The cup holders (AFC Exe) folded before the season began so a new name will go on the trophy. The top clash was at Central where the KGV side despatched Beer Albion Res 4-0.
AFC Morchard Bishop beat Alphington Res 5-2 and in terms of league placings the 6-1 win by Witheridge at Feniton Res also raised eyebrows.
Another eyebrow raiser at Chagford where they came good to knock out Clyst Valley Res 3-2.
The Heart of Oak ran out 5-1 winners at Tipton St John, and East Budleigh Res won 6-2 at Dunkeswell Rovers.
Westexe Park Rangers Res and Honiton Town Res tie ended 3-3 and went to penalties which Honiton won 4-2.
Budleigh Salterton Res won 2-0 at Broadclyst who have only conceded one goal prior to kick off, while Bravehearts won a battle royal with their local rivals Cullompton Res.
Aldo through are Seaton Town 4-2 at home to Tedburn St Mary, South Zeal United 3-1 at Cheriton Fitzpaine and the University 4ths 4-0 at home to Sidmouth Town 3rds.
One tie played in the Geary cup saw Alphington 3rds into the quarter finals after a 7-3 win at South Zeal United Res. The Alphas join Priory whose original opponents (Hemyock Res) have folded, in the last eight
One reminder that the Devon County cup draws take place on tuesday, and will be posted on here as soon as possible.
