ALPHAS BLAST OFF WITH SIX OF THE BEST

Champions Alphington began the defence of their crown with a six goal rout of Elmore at Horsdon Park. Disappointment for the club as they were unable to make the step into a higher league they have issued an early statement on their ambition.

However they were matched by Colyton who also won 6-0 against a Lyme Regis side which never got going.

Newcomers Winkleigh managed an extra time equaliser to snatch a 2-2 draw at Sandford after being two down, while newly promoted Upottery also began well winning 3-2 at Kentisbeare.

Lapford who have been allowed back to Premier after being absent for a year began with a 3-0 victory at Sidmouth Town.
