Alphington steal the show
Lapford shattered by a second cup semi final defeat
Newly crowned Premier champions Lapford hopes of reaching the East Devon Senior cup final for the first time ever were destroyed in blazing sunshine at Edgerly Park by Division One champions Alphington Res. The Alphas who won the cup 42 years ago came from two goals down to earn extra time and then win 5-3. Defeat was also the first time Lapford have been beaten at home for three and a half years, and remarkably that was to Alphington Res 3-2 when the teams were in Division One.
Exeter Panthers are through to the Geary cup final after a 3-2 win at home to Exmouth Rovers and will now face Hatherleigh Town. The parents of Harvey McWilliams the former Panthers youngster now no longer with us were at the game and given a round of applause by both teams to mark Harveys memory. All three goals for the Panthers came from Nathan Hopkins.
