BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND PREVIEW

Another season gets fully under way this saturday with matches in all divisions although it has not been an easy close season exercise for the League to resolve. Most followers will be aware of the changes the League has had to take especially with a number of teams withdrawing and the old saying the best laid plans of men and mice come to mind but not sure Robbie Burns was referring to this as a soccer supporter.

Premier kicked off last saturday with champions Alphington getting a 6-0 result away at Elmore and setting their stall to repeat their title challenge. The Alphas travel to Lyme Regis tomorrow who will be hoping for an improvement after they went down 6-0 to Colyton.
During the week Colyton then went top after a 3-2 victory at newly promoted Upottery and hoping to make it three from three when they welcome Okehampton Res which will be their first trip out.
Winkleigh in Premier for the first time are at home to Sidmouth Town Res, Lapford have a derby clash with Crediton Res and Sandford with four points already in the bag are at home to Kentisbeare.

Division One sees newly promoted St Martins at East Budleigh, plus three other matches, although just two games in Division Two at Beer and KGV based Central.

Four matches on offer in both the other Senior Divisions Three and Four.

However Division Five the top Intermediate sectionhas been decimated by withdrawals and is down to just nine teams. The League will probably review the situation at their first meeting, but with fixtures already arranged and meetings needed to have been called it would have been difficult to change.
So just two fixtures for Division Five this weekend, but more action in the three lower divisions including a start for the Railway FC team who are at home to Ex Dons in Division Six.
