Both Dons go down in league and cup

Intermediate football almost obliterated by the weather

NTERMEDIATE ROUND UP

DIVISIONS 5-8

Intermediate football was almost obliterated by the weather, the only game in Division Five saw the University’s 7th team win 6-2 at home to an Amory Green Rovers side still battling for their first victory.

In Division Six in the only game Upottery were able to send a strong side to Witheridge where they triumphed 6-0 after scoring a nap hand in the first half.
Cheriton Fitzpaine were due to face league leaders Ottery St Mary but for some reason not yet confirmed, the game did not take place.

Hatherleigh Town won the only match in Division Seven prospering 4-2 from their Newton St Cyres visit, while two matches were played in Division Eight which saw a first defeat for leaders Ex Dons 7-3 at South Zeal United, and a good result for Millwey Rise by 4-1 at home to a Bampton side who like Millwey were hoping to leap into second place.

Dejection for Starcross Dons whose Devon Intermediate cup hopes were ended by a penalty shoot out at home to former D & E side Lifton. The tie ended 2-2 but Lifton, league members just some 15 years ago won 4-3 on pens and are the first team to reach the quarter finals.
