CHAMPIONS BACK ON TOP, COLYTON DROP OFF

PREMIER DIVISION
Reigning champions Alphington moved menacingly into top spot after a 3-1 victory at Clyst Valley a team they feel might well be one of their major challengers this season having won their opening two matches.
Colyton were dislodged from top after slipping up 3-0 at home to newly promoted Winkleigh who remain unbeaten after five matches.
Upottery deny the Winks a top three slot as they triumphed 4-2 at Elmore Res.
Sidmouth Town Res enjoyed their first success as they beat Sandford 3-1 at Manstone Road, two set piece goals saw Kentisbeare win 2-0 at Lyme Regis, and the University Res who play their second match on wednesday under the new lights at Okehampton, were 4-1 winners at home to the Okes.
Lapford were 2-1 winners in their local derby at Crediton Res.
SENIOR DIVISIONS
Three superb second half goals saw Wellington Res steal the show in the top of the table Division One battle at St Martins Minster Park where they won 3-0 and dislodge the Saints off top spot.
East Budleigh had their game together to move into third place as they took care of Newton St Cyres 4-0.
Teignmouth Res won 3-1 at Hatherleigh Town to press their challenge but it finished 2-2 between Lympstone and the University 3rds who will play their second game also this wednesday under the lights at Ottery St Mary.
Having scored only one goal in three outings Newtown Res crushed a depleted Dawlish United 7-0.
Farway United head Division Two staying put with a 3-1 win at Tedburn St Mary, but their nearest rivals Westexe Park Rangers preserved their 100% record in style beating Seaton Town 6-0.
Central kept their good start going as they won away at South Zeal United 4-2, abd Beer Albion Res tucked in behind after edging Exmouth Spartans 2-1.
The Universitys 4th team began with a 4-1 win at home to Tipton St John.
Division Three leaders Budleigh Salterton Res were in Devon Senior county cup action but lost their first round tie 2-0 at Newnham Athletic of the Plymouth & West Devon League. The robins however held on to top spot as none of their nearest rivals Broadclyst or Heavitree United were in action.
However there was delight for Witheridge in their Senior cup tie with a 3-0 win at home to Feniton Res.
Bravehearts won a lively game at Sidmouth Town 3rds 4-3, and East Budleigh Res were also winners on the road 3-2 at the University 5ths ground.
Bickleigh made it five wins from five as Division Four leaders, but Colyton Res made them work hard for a 4-2 scoreline.
Second place Honiton Town Res kept their unbeaten record but it was close as they settled for a 1-1 draw at home to AFC Morchard Bishop.
Third place Heart of Oak also drew 1-1 away at Chagford, so the top score was at Uplyme where they accounted for Elmore’s 3rd team 4-0.
A victory at last for Dunkeswell Rovers and in some fashion as they took Cheriton Fitzpaine apart 6-0.
The Universitys 6th team made a stunning start at Cullompton Res where they won 4-1.
INTERMEDIATE DIVISIONS
Focus this week was on newly formed Tops United who are based at Topsham Towns Coronation fields, and were fast-tracked into Division Five by the League following approval by the County FA. However they lost their opening game 2-1 against the Universitys 7th string.
Meanwhile leaders Starcross Dons had to dig deep to preserve their 100% record at Upottery Res but came good 3-2.
Awliscombe United enjoyed their first win 4-0 at home to Millwey Rise, while St Martins Res were too much for Exeter United where they ran out 6-2 winners.
Note: Cranbrook United have withdrawn from the League and their record expunged from Division 5
Ottertons long unbeaten run came to an end at home to Beacon Knights who fully deserved their shock victory in their Division Six clash.
Also beaten were second place Bampton 4-2 at home to the Railway FC who many feel are the favourites.
Witheridge Res completed the double over Exeter Royals where they won a tight match 4-3, and a good tussle at Ex Dons where City Raiders drew 2-2.
Division Seven leaders City Raiders Res however were on cloud nine after their 5-0 victory at home to Tedburn St Mary Res, and were joined by unbeaten Uplowman Athletic who were 6-1 winners at home to Westexe Park Rangers Res.
Bradninch edged Phoenix United 1-0 but reckoned they should have scored a hatful.
North Tawton were shocked 2-1 at home by Neewton St Cyres Res in the other game played.
Heavitree United Res stay top of Division Eight after an expected 4-0 win at Millwey Rise Res, and just up the road rivals Alphington 3rds kept on their heels winning 4-1 at Farway United Res.
Also still unbeaten are Lympstone Res 2-0 winners at Starcross Dons Res but still some way back from the top two.
Amory Rovers won 6-1 at home to City Raiders 3rds, while Bow Res slipped down the road to Okehampton 3rds where they nicked it 1-0.
