COLYTON PAY THE PENALTY AT SIDMOUTH IN PREMIER CUP

ROUND UP OF SATURDAYS CUP ACTION

Disappointment for Kentisbeare in the opening round of the Sportsighting Devon Premier Cup, but three teams through to tomorrows draw (Monday). Kents went down 1-0 at home to Braunton, and an upset for Colyton at Sidmouth Town where the vikings second string held their visitors to an entertaining 4-4 draw and then won on penalties.
Clyst Valley were triumphant in South Devon winning 2-1 at Signal Box Oak Villa, and Alphington were 3-0 winners at Plymouth Vaults.

The Devon Senior Cup holders Exeter University 3rds won an exciting match at Exmouth Spartans 3-1 in defence of their crown. and the interesting factor is that most of the 18 ties were all very close. Top billing came at Lynton where Bow AAC came good 4-2. Honiton Town Res booked their slot winning 2-1 at Brixham Town Res, and St Martins were 2-0 winners away to Harbertonford in South Devon. Altogether 15 teams will be into round two.

As always some high scores in the A & S Paving Devon Intermediate cup notably Alphington 3rds 7-1 victors at Broadhempstone, Sandford Res 5-3 at Kingsley Park, St Martins Res 5-0 at home to the Equalisers from North Devon, and Starcross Dons through 9-0 at home to Bradninch. However there were some heavy defeats with struggling Tedburn St Mary Res crashing 12-1 at Watcombe Wanderers, and Westexe Park Rangers Res beaten 8-0 at Merton.
One result that catches the eye is the 7-4 victory by Exeter United at home to Okehampton 3rds.
So altogether 13 clubs from saturdays ties into the next round
