County cup action dominates saturdays programme
Devon Premier cup, Devon Senior and Intermediate competitions around the County
Almost half the League’s top teams are in action this saturday seeking a place in the second round of the Throgmorton Devon Premier cup. Topsham based Cronies would have had one of the most attractive ties at home to Plymouth Marjon, but their visitors have been unable to raise a side and forfeited the tie.
Beer Albion also have home advantage against East Allington, Upottery welcome Park United from Plymouth while Hatherleigh Town prepare for the visit of Appledore.
Colyton make the long journey to Activate FC who are based at Eggbuckland, but Chagford have a relatively local derby at Buckfastleigh of the South Devon League.
That just leaves Sidmouth Town travelling north to Shamwickshire.
22 of the Firewatch Devon Senior cup ties on offer this weekend feature Devon & Exeter teams, but there has already been one result with Bampton getting a walkover because Princetown have been unable to raise a side.
Beaten finalists Kentisbeare have moved up a level so their Reserve team will try to carry the flag when they host Buckfastleigh of the SDL.
Yet although the League have by far more teams in the competition only four ties paired up to guarantee a second round slot. The University start their season in the cup at home to Heavitree United, East Budleigh host Alphington, Winchester have a city derby against Newtown and Westexe Park Rangers will face Honiton Town.
The Devon Intermediate cup also first round action with six ties guaranteeing a second round slot. New team City Raiders will have Appledore as their guests, while Exeter United have to make the trip in the other direction to tackle Appledore’s Lions. Broadclyst also travel to face the Lions from Northam, another NDL side.
Countess Wear Rovers are visited by Shebbear United of the North Devon League, while Otterton will need a little magic to get past Kingsley Wizards also of the NDL.

The University begin their Premier account against Bampton, Kentisbeare seek a first win at Okehampton Argyle, and Feniton are at home to East Devon rivals Seaton Town.
Crediton United and Bow AAC who have been mid Devon rivals and neighbours for many years face each other at Lords Meadow in a Division One clash, and Thorverton who have made a great start are at home to Chard Town.
Finally Farway United back in the league after over 40 years prepare for their Division Five debut at home to Awliscombe United.
Teams are reminded that all the County cup ties this saturday kick off at 2.15pm will not play extra time if level on 90 minutes. They go straight into a penalty shoot out.
