County cup glory beckons

Mid summer booked for the finals

 

The quarter finals of the County cups take place next week and the Devon & Exeter League have huge interest. All the finals will take place in June which is outside the regular season, but these are unusual times.

In the Devon Premier cup competition Kentisbeare in for the first time ever have joined Dawlish United in the quarters after a stunning 5-2 win against Torbay Police.

More than half the teams still in the Devon Senior cup are Devon & Exeter teams following wednesdays results. Axminster progressed after toppling town rivals Millwey Rise 5-1, Bow won at Otterton 2-1, South Zeal United won 2-0 at Exeter United, while Ottery St Mary edged out DC Auto Repairs from South Devon.
Winkleigh hopes were ended by a penalty shoot out against Northam Lions after the pair drew 4-4.

Witheridge are through to the last eight of the Devon Intermediate cup after winning comfortably 4-1 at Tedburn St Mary, and Beacon Knights enjoyed a 4-2 win at home to Barnstaple. Chagford and Lympstone were already through as they received byes.

The quarters take place next wednesday and those ties affecting D & E teams are
Premier Cup: Dawlish United v Holsworthy Res, Liverton United v Kentisbeare

Senior Cup: Axminster Town Res v Bow AAC, Ottery St Mary Res v Tamar View, South Zeal v Gampton United

Intermediate Cup: Beacon Knights v Brixham Town, Chagford v Witheridge, Lifton v Lympstone.
