Cyres and Tops through to last 16 of cup

Plenty of league action in Divisions 1-4

DEVON SENIOR CUP ACTION

Newton St Cyres stormed into the last 16 of the Devon Senior cup after crushing Mountwise FC from Plymouth 6-1. A Dylan Wilson hat-trick two goal Fin Jeffrey and Cam Smith did it for Cyres as they chase the trophy they last won some 46 years ago.
Topsham Town are also through after a penalty shoot out against match favourites Crediton United. It finished 1-1, but Cyres held their nerve in the penalty contest to win 4-2.
The other third round ties are next saturday.

SENIOR DIVISIONS
Alphington were 5-1 winners at Sandford which gave them the chance to cut back cup active Division One leaders Crediton United from 12 points to nine. At the same time the Alphas stay ahead of Bow AAC 2-0 winners at Lympstone, Ryan Heard-Gibson and Josh Williams with the goals, and Chard Town were 2-1 winners at home to Hatherleigh Town who remain without a win.
East Budleigh and the University shared the points from a 1-1 draw, Rian Hill with the home goal, while Newtown sprang a mild surprise winning 3-1 at Upottery. Costa Hall, Josh Gresham and Seb Richards with the goals, Joel Foster their man of the match.

Exmouth Spartans shocked Division 2 leaders Beer Albion 5-2, the fishermens first defeat, and a result which sees joint leaders Winkleigh who were without a match caught by Alphington after their 1-0 win at Clyst Valley.
Teignmouth now in fourth place lost their 100% record losing 4-3 at the University which to some extent means the College are closing up on the top five.
Tedburn St Mary won a close game against Dunkeswell Rovers 1-0.

In Division Three city neighbours Central gave leaders Devon Yeoman a run for their money before slipping up 2-1. Stanton Foggin and an own goal won it for the Yeomen.
St Martins won an amazing match at Honiton 8-4 which lifted them into second place. Callum Powers with a hattrick and a Finlay Short brace did most of the damage. Simon Holwell, Josh Lake and Harvey Jones with the others.
Heavitree United are slowly coming good as their 4-1 win against Lyme Regis showed, Feniton won 3-1 at Exeter United, and Hemyock won 2-1 at Pinhoe with Kye Tipper and Sam Czeres their goalscorers.
The University proved too quick for Seaton Town who were sent packing 6-2.

With Division Four leaders Farway United on a day off, Bravehearts narrowed the gap with an astonishing 9-3 win at home to East Budleigh. Braces from Jon Britton, Kris Roper, Luke Jones and Ed Webb, Greg Hooper with the odd one. Plucky Budleigh replied with a Nathan Penhallurich double and Dan Atkinson.
Jordan Wilkinson collared a hat-trick for Cranbrook as they beat South Zeal United 5-1. Tom Purdy and Steve Davey with the other goals.
Bampton also won 5-1 at Colyton, Stuart Bolt and Matthew Watts with two each, Liam Short with the single.
Sidmouth Town won their mide table battle at Witheridge 3-2, and Millwey Rise scored the only goal in their visit to Cullompton Rangers.
That left Culm United to celebrate a second win in succession 5-0 at home to Broadclyst with Chris White leading the celebrations with a hat-trick. Ricky Lee and Ant Ansell had the others.
