Fishermen into the Premier semi finals for the first time ever

Lapford go out on penalties as their long unbeaten run ended

Dramatic scenes at Furzebrake after Beer Albion qualified for the first time ever for the semi finals of the Sportslighting Devon Premier cup. A highly entertaining battle against Premier division rivals Lapford ended in a 3-3 draw and then Beer won the penalty shoot-out 10-9 after the Lapford keeper Matt Parsell smashed his kick against the crossbar. The action started with a missed first minute penalty by the Albion, saved by Parsell, and that set the tone for the coming drama. Lapford then led 1-0 at the break and in a supercharged second half the two teams eventually settled with pens. For Beer the goals in normal time came from Charlie Skilton, Alex Pagett and Tony Pinder, and for Lapford from Chris Burrow 2 and Ryan Clarke. Defeat was the first for Lapford in over a year in any competition.
