Five through to Intermediate cup quarters
Dolton come out top in their massive Intermediate clash against Merton so bragging rights for the Rangers
INTERMEDIATE ROUND UP
More good news in the Devon Intermediate cup with five teams getting into the last eight. Bickleigh beat Amory Green Rovers 5-2 in their tie and Whipton & Pinhoe beat the University 5-1 to sort out the local competitors. Then Dolton Rangers won 3-0 at North Devon Legue rivals Merton, and City Raiders skilful young warriors enjoyed a similar result in South Devon at Watcombe Wanders. The only casualty was Sandford whose second team were unable to book a place losing 4-1 at Shamwickshire in North Devon. So the four winners join Starcross Dons who booked their slot last week.
One other cuptie of note was the 6-1 Football Express win for the Heart of Oak against Teign Village.
The cup action reduced the domestic programme with just two matches taking place in Division Five. Cranbrook United stepped up to third place on their own after a 3-0 win at home to Millwey Rise and St Martins kept up their title bid winning 8-2 at Axmouth United.
The sad news from Division Six is that leaders Ottery St Mary have asked to withdraw their team so their game at Morchard Bishop was called off. If agreed by the League Otterys results will be obliterated and just ten teams will now be occupants.
MeanwhileUpottery duly underlined their challenge with a resounding 14-2 win at home to bottom of the pile Devon Yeoman, Central were 4-1 winners at Witheridge and a 4-0 win for Cheriton Fitzpaine at home to Beacon Knights.
Several shock results in Division Seven with leaders Exmouth Rovers going down 3-2 at home to Hatherleigh Town, and second place Exeter Royals crashing to a 2-1 defeat against the City Raiders. A second half penalty doing the job.
Defeat for Priory as well 6-3 at home to an elated Bradninch.
The results could open the door for Whipton & Pinhoe who won 8-3 at Seaton Town but the match was abandoned with just four minutes remaining and will need to be reviewed.
Elsewhere a hugely entertaining 5-5 draw between the University and Phoenix United, and a 4-2 win for Westexe Park Rangers at home to the bottom team Newton St Cyres.
No slip for Division Eight leaders Ex Dons as they won 2-0 at Bampton, and they are now being chased by Tedburn St Mary who won 6-0 at home to Bow AAC.
Millwey Rise slip back after slipping up 4-2 at home to North Tawton.
Starcross Dons won their high noon clash at Hemyock 5-0, but Farway United had to put their game against Lympstone off as their pitch was waterlooged.
