Geary cup goes to Hatherleigh

Panthers miss out before they bow out

Hatherleigh Town Res won the Geary cup for the first time ever with a 2-0 victory against Exeter Panthers at Crediton tonight (Tuesday)

The Panthers who have decided to withdraw from the League after just two seasons were hoping they could sign out with a cup success., but apart from losing they were let off lightly. Hatherleigh could have been out of sight by the interval but for some excellent goalkeeping and some wayward finishing, but they did get one goal before the break and sealed it with a penalty on the hour.

This was the 75th Geary final first won by St Marks in 1935 when they defeated Budleigh Salterton 5-1.
