Lympets draw but clean up

PREMIER ACTION

The weather was the big winner at the weekend with two thirds of the programme being postponed. Just two matches were played in Premier but saw Clyst Valley complete a brilliant month with their fourth success without conceding a goal, as they rolled over visiting Okehampton Argyle 11-0 and suddenly find themselves in second place.
Colyton hopes of retaining that position were eclipsed at the University whose decision to switch the match to Topshams Coronation road ground also paid off with a 3-0 win for the students who are now very much in the race.

Premier leaders Alphington also switched grounds to the Exwick hub to stage their East Devon Senior cup tie against Lyme Regis, and that paid off as well as they ran away with it 8-0. No sign of the Lyme team which ran the Alphas so close just a month ago.

SENIOR ACTION

Newton St Cyres were also winners in the East Devon Senior cup as they edged Division One rivals East Budleigh 3-2, while in Division One itself just a single match saw Wellington share the points with Lympstone from a 1-1 draw. Full marks to the Lympets who earned massive praise from the home side for leaving their changing rooms in immaculate condition.

Clyst Valleys reserve team made it a double for the club in Division Two with a 5-2 win at Tedburn St Mary, but the most emphatic scoreline came at the University where they were too strong for Dunkeswell Rovers who were seen off 8-1.
A much closer call at Exmouth Spartans where they were beaten 3-2 by Central whose prize was to dislodge the Spartans from third place.

Division Three was a total wipeout with all six matches falling foul of the weather, contrast that with Division Four where four games were completed including the 2-1win for leaders East Budleigh although they were pressed hard by lowly Culm United.
Budleigh Salterton provided the upset of the day winning 2-1 at the University to destroy their 100% record.
Goals galore at Colyton where they were 6-4 winners against Exeter United, while Dawlish United produced a good performance to win 5-1 at Uplyme.
