Hippos reserves pull out

Honiton 2nds withdraw

Honiton Town have regretfully taken the decision to fold their Reserve team. For the first time in over 70 years the hippos will not feature in the Devon & Exeter League. The club felt they had no choice as many of last seasons team had left to join other nearby clubs.

Honiton who began life just after the war playing in the Ottery & District League before switching to the Exeter & District League have remained in membership since then but will be a big disappointment to local supporters who would not have expected a club of this size to find themselves struggling to maintain a second eleven.

Honiton 1st XI will continue in the SW Peninsular League but sadly their name will be missing from our fixtures this season. Their absence will reduce Division 3 down to 13 teams.

League Vice president Pat Leisk who was a prominent player at Honiton will be especially disappointed to hear this news.
