Crediton mark their Premier debut with a victory, and plenty of action over the opening two days.
PREMIER ACTION
Crediton Uniteds second string playing in Premier for the first time in their history marked the occasion with a convincing 5-1 success at Ottery St Mary. An Alex Goldbrough brace and singles from Will Hamill, Macauley Oldfield and Guy Alum ensured maximum points.
Clyst Valley who have returned this season after a spell in the Devon Football League also won 5-1 at home to Dawlish United. Vinnie Brockington and Max May both scoring twice, Jordan Wakefield once.
Alphington whose Reserve team would have expected to be playing in Premier, but now function as their first team having withdrawn from the Devon League as well, began with a 1-0 win in a tight match at Kentisbeare.
Elmore won the other game played 3-2 at Sidmouth Town.
SENIOR ACTION DIVISIONS 1 – 4
Division One action began on friday evening with Upottery enjoying a startling 7-0 win against Topsham Town. Four goal Blake Fremantle stole the show with Owen McCreadie-Taylor, Sam Foster and Aaron Pearse adding their pennyworth.
Friday also saw Chard Town and Lympstone open up with an entertaining 3-3 draw as did Beer Albion against Bow AAC on saturday. Sam Smith, Taylor Rooke and Harry Lawrence were the fishermen scorers in what was their debut in the highest division they have ever featured in. A Connor Madge treble and Eirin McDaid saw Hatherleigh Town sweep to a 4-0 win against East Budleigh, and Winkleigh tipped by many to be front runners saw off Newtown 5-0.
Division Two also opened up on friday with Clyst Valley winning 2-0 against Exmouth Spartans, goals from Josh Barlow and Henry Dobrijevic, and a couple of matches on saturday with Tedburn St Mary winning 5-1 against Feniton, and Westexe Park Rangers winning 2-0 against Dunkeswell Rovers. Jorden Gillham 2, Dom Cochran, Nigel Geoghegan and Cameron Salter with the Tedburn goals, Finn Crocker and George Harvey netting for Westexe whose Brad Dvey had a great match.
Five matches played in Division Three with Broadclyst taking the limelight winning 8-0 at Lyme Regis.
South Zeal United won 4-1 at Halwill, Sam Jones scoring twice, Dillon Nicholas and Connor Mills adding singles.
Former powerhouses Heavitree United and Seaton Town met at Wingfield Park where the home side edged it 2-1.
Witheridge accounted for Chagford 4-2, Charlie Rook doubling up for Withy, Adam Leat and Rafael Sotomayor adding singles. Oliver Squire and Will Cork with the moormens goals.
Hemyock and Bravehearts shared a six goal thriller, Martin Loader, Finn Buckley and Will Gay with the home share, Luke Jones, Ed Webb and Pete Hammond for the braves.
Budleigh Salterton Reserves now back in the league met Cullompton Rangers in their first encounter which ended all square at 1-1.Ryan Tullett with the robins goal, Owen Buxton for Cully.
Best win in this division was at Cheriton Fitzpaine where Sidmouth were conquered 5-1, East Budleigh were 4-1 winners at home to Dawlish United, Joe Bowden and Toby Hill both scoring twice, while St Thomas won their derby against Alphington 3-1.
