LAPFORD COMPLETE THE HONOURS LIST

RUNNERS UP IN PREMIER

Lapford completed the honours list at Edgerly Park on wednesday evening when they defeated Winkleigh 4-1 in the final game of the season. Victory earns Lapford the Harry Wood trophy as Premier division runners up behind champions Alphington, and that means all the divisional honours are now resolved. Lapford needed just a draw to overtake Kentisbeare who ironically have beaten Lapford three times this season in League and cup, but have to settle for third place.

For the record Harry Wood was secretary of the Whipton Football club in the 1950s and then Heavitree United in the 1960s and 1970s and was a League Management and Executive officer and Vice President. Harry donated his trophy in 1977 and the first winners were Friernhay.

All the trophies will be presented to the clubs at the Presentation dinner on friday 7th June at Sandy Park.
