Lapford getting closer
Reigning Champions have the winning post in sight
PREMIER ACTION
Lapford have one hand back on the Joma Stitch2print Premier trophy after coming from a goal down to defeat Beer Albion 4-1. The fishermen gave Lapford a wake up call, but Lapford then went to work with goals from Mark Tucker, Ben Tucker, Ryan Clarke and Chris Burrow. The victory not only ended Beers slim hopes but takes Lapford five points clear of second place Thorverton their only title rivals. Both teams have four matches remaining including a possible showdown at Thorverton on May 2.
Lapfords other matches – Exeter University (h) Axminster Town (a) and Elmore (a)
Thorverton have Elmore at home and Ottery St Mary home and away
Beer have two matches remaining at Dawlish next saturday and at Lyme Regis on Easter monday but need to win both to cling on to third place.
Colyton won 5-1 at Okehampton Argyle in the other Premier match played on saturday. A Callum Somers treble, Matthew Berry and Johndrick Gangoso getting the goals.
Dawlish United played their penultimate match against Ottery St Mary on friday evening winning 4-1 which may be enough to keep them out of the bottom three.
Axminster Town were unable to raise a side for their game at Sidmouth Town which would have been their last game. If the vikings are duly awarded the points it might be enough to take them out of the bottom two if Okehampton lose both matches at Elmore tomorrow night and Lyme Regis on saturday by an aggregate of four goals.
