Lapford win the big match but fishermen go top

PREMIER DIVISION

A big saturday crowd turned up to watch Beer Albion regain their Premier leadership and the fishermen did not disappoint as they saw off derby rivals Colyton 6-0. With Lapford coming from a goal down to win 3-1 and dislodgeThorverton from pole slot it is setting the scene for a cracking season ahead.

Lyme Regis swapped fourth place with Elmore thanks to a 4-3 win against the eagles, while Okehampton Argyle moved out of the bottom three after their convincing 4-0 victory against Dawlish United.

On friday evening Sidmouth Town surprised last weeks cup stars Axminster Town 2-1 at Tiger Way, but despite a valiant effort Ottery St Mary are still without a point after losing 2-1 at home to the University.

SENIOR DIVISIONS

Just one league match played in Division One due to all the cup action, but a 2-1 win for Chard Town at Newtown who were kicking themselves for not getting something from the game.
In Division Two Otterton won their derby against Tipton St John 3-1, with the University edging the other game to take place 2-1 at Clyst Valley.
Lyme Regis could have gone joint top with a win at St Martins but were blown away 8-0, four goals in each half for the Minster Park side.
Two city derbies both ended 2-1 home wins for Pinhoe against Exeter United, and for the University against Heavitree United.
Farway United were the only team in Division Four to win at home, Witheridge beaten their 3-0. Away wins for Colyton, Sidmouth and for Millwey Rise.

DEVON SENIOR CUP ACTION

The League enjoyed plenty of success in the second round of the Devon Senior Cup and nearly half the teams remaining in the draw for 30th October will come from the Joma League. Among the closest of battles Alphington manager to get through on penalties 4-3 against Seaton Town after it finished 1-1, Newton St Cyres squeezed through 1-0 at Exmouth Spartans, and Teignmouth enjoyed a derby victory against Torquay Town which they won 2-0.
Comfortable wins for Crediton United 7-0 at home to Newton Rovers, Bow AAC who sent Chagford packing 6-1, Upottery who beat Horrabrige 7-3, and for East Budleigh who were much too strong for North Devons Appledore Lions as they tamed their visitors 7-1.
Central enjoyed a 6-2 win at home to Buckfastleigh with an almost similar result for Bow AAC 6-1 at home to Chagford.
Topsham Town were handed ground advantage to put paid to Cranbrook 3-1, Winkleigh looking very useful this season went through 4-2 at Westexe Park Rangers, and the University enjoyed a similar result to get through against Waldon Athletic.
Cullompton Rangers went out early beat 2-0 by Chudleighs South Devon League side on friday evening.
Other losses were Hemyock 2-1 at Chittlehampton, Sandford 3-1 at Shamwickshire in North Devon, Hatherleigh beaten 4-3 at Kingsteignton, and Feniton were beaten 4-2 at East Allington.
Beer Albion lost 4-1 at Mountwise in Plymouth, Tedburn St Mary slipped up 3-1 at home to Ilsington Villa.
Devon Yeoman were taken to penalties after drawing 1-1 with Babbacombe Corinthians who then went through 4-3.
