Lapford into quarters of the Senior Cup
After last weeks mass postponements the League finally got the second half of the season get under way with some 45 league and cup fixtures played, although there was a sprinkling of postponements for pitch and Covid reasons.
PREMIER ACTION
It was business as usual for Premier leaders Lapford but they gave their attention to booking a quarter final place in the East Devon Senior cup as they saw off Newton St Cyres 4-0. Goals for Lapford came from the Tucker family Ben, Dan and Mark after Harry Leach got them off the mark from a penalty. Lapford now face either Lyme Regis or Tipton St John who meet next saturday.
In the League Thorverton could have joined Lapford on top spot but had to call off their home match against Elmore as their pitch was still unplayable.
Beer Albion suffered a surprise 4-3 home defeat against neighbours Lyme Regis conceding the game after getting back from 3-1 to 3-3. Tyler Wellman, Ben Turner, Joe Bond and Mark Bailey were the Lyme scorers.
Kentisbeare moved up to joint third after a 2-0 win at Ottery St Mary, Jake Searle and Chris Hawkins getting their goals. Simon Hill was their man of the match.
The University won a hugely entertaining match at Okehampton Argyle 7-3, Seb Lawson getting a hat-trick. Other goals came from Alex Duncan, Tom Kitson, Oliver Elsen and Tom Jordan.
Colyton were too strong for Sidmouth Town winning 6-1 with some ease. Doubles rom Jake Collier and George Adshead, singles from Callum Somers and Billy Knox. Scott Hughes with a vikings consolation.
Axminster Town won a close game against Dawlish United 3-2.
