Newts and Tangerines in County cup glory

Both Newtown Res and Wellington Res stormed into the next round of their respective County cups this weekend.
In their brought forward Devon County Senior cup 2nd round tie Newtown routed Barnstaple Res 8-0 in North Devon, thanks to a hat-trick from Ash Mcdermid, a Kyle Costa brace and singles from Jordan Mace, Fergal O’Rourke and a Mike Blinkhorn penalty.
Wellington Town Res put on a show as they beat Bristol Bilbao 5-1 in the Somerset County Senior cup, Luke Perry and Aaron Merry netted twice for the tangerines with man of the match Wes Poulson also scoring.
In the League Crediton United Res are running away from their Division One rivals opening a ten points cushion after beating Chard Town 5-0. Perry Carpenter, Tom Parkins, Mile Norton and Joe Chester among their nap hand.
Alphington moved into second place after a 6-0 win at home to Halwill, but Topsham Town slipped back after losing 3-2 at Bow AAC. Ciaran Nicks 2 and Alex Bowden were the home scorers.
The University won the other match played at Lympstone 3-1 with Armando Bogdanov scoring twice and Ashmin Pun once.
Beer Albion and Winkleigh joined up as Division Two leaders but in differing styles. The fishermen saw off Exmouth Spartans 4-1 with Josh Lund 2, Thomas Perry and Brandon Hopkins scoring, but Winkleigh had to battle for their 5-4 triumph at the University.
Alphington and Otterton shared a 4-4 draw, Rikki Tucker getting a hat-trick for the Alphas and Cameron Brown doing the same for the Otters whose other goal came from Dan Tapp.
Fin Jeffrey copied that with a hat-trick for Newton St Cyres in their 6-2 win against Dunkeswell Rovers. Dylan Wilson 2 and Dave Sexton also scored.
Clyst Valley and Tedburn St Mary drew 2-2 in their meeting.
Devon Yeoman took over as Division Three leaders after a solid 4-0 win at home to Hemyock. Bailey Smith, Jacob Jack, Levi Arthurs and Macca Burge with the goals.
However the shock of the day came at Westexe Park Rangers where they had their 100% record blown away by Lyme Regis who won 3-2. Fred Thomson, Wallace Blackmore and Louis Rinaldi with the Lyme goals.
Central won their city derby with Heavitree 4-0 Will Darraugh, George Goodchild and Jack Puddiphatt among their scorers and St Martins returned to winning ways as they accounted for Exeter United 3-0. Saints goals from Joe Winsor, Finlay Short an Simon Holwell.
Honiton Town won 3-1 at Axmouth United with Aidan and Zak Harrisson both scoring along with Bradley Morris, and Seaton Town were 3-1 winners against Feniton with Etham Matthews scoring twice and James Hill once.
The University were also set to play against Pinhoe but their visitors did not show up.
Division Four leaders Bravehearts had to settle for a 2-2 draw at home to struggling but a delighted Sidmouth Town, which enabled Farway United to halve the leaders deficit with a thumping 6-0 derby win at Millwey Rise. Billy Reed hat-trick, Joe Titmuss 2 and River Leisk.
Bampton moved closer to the top after winning 4-1 at Cullompton Rangers. Leian Hunter 2, Luke Andrews and Liam Short were the ponies marksmen.
East Budleigh enjoyed a 6-3 home win against South Zeal United which ruined their 100% record. Nathan Penhallrick was the star man with four goals, Dan Atkinson and Tom Christian also scoring.
Broadclyst were 4-2 winners at Colyton while Culm United who have been the whipping boys until now put up a battling show in their 2-0 defeat at home to Witheridge.
