Ponies dreams ended in County Premier final
Bampton denied after marathon penalty shoot out
Bampton hopes of becoming the first Devon & Exeter Premier to lift the Devon Premier cup for 30 years were denied by a dramatic penalty shoot out. The 51st final at Coach road against Mount Gould of the East Cornwall League, ended goalless, and Bampton played the last fifteen minutes plus five minutes injury time a man short following a red card. Both teams missed an early penalty, and at 9-9 both goalkeepers found the target. Then Bamptons second penalty miss proved decisive and Mount Gould also playing in their first County final won it 10-9.
So Chelston remain the last D & E team to have won the cup back in 1990.
