Powell brace doubles Thor’s Senior cup victories

Thorverton captured the Firewatch Devon Senior cup on Friday night thanks to a deserved 2-1 win against Millbridge United at Coach Road. Both goals came in the second half from Chris Powell after a goalless first half in which Jake Eldon was unlucky with a rocket that bounced off the crossbar. Victory gave Thorverton their second ever success in the County competition. For the Plymouth team whose goal came minutes after Powell’s opener was from Lee Card. Their only other final in 1971 also ended in defeat and despite last nights gallant effort, overall the Thors edged the game.
County made Thors Sam Stewart man of the match, and 24 year old elated Thor’s manager Ben Mills felt it was shared with Powell.

Devon & Exeter League Vice President Dave Pointing, and one time Thorverton player and Secretary watching from the stand was also delighted with the outcome.
