SENIOR & INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE ACTION
SATURDAY OCTOBER 14
SENIOR DIVISIONS
St Martins came good in the big Division One clash 2-0 at home to Teignmouth Res and topple Wellington Res from top spot after they lost 3-2 at East Budleigh and paying the price for many missed chances.
Goals were in short shrift elsewhere with Bow AAC winning 1-0 at home to Newtown Res, and the University 3rds also 1-0 winners at Newton St Cyres.
Ottery St Mary Res edged Lympstone at the marine camp 2-1 but Dawlish United failed to raise a side for their game away at Hatherleigh Town.
There were no league games in Division Two because of Bill Slee cup action, and just two matches played in Division Three but a big result for Halwill who held high flying Heavitree United to a 3-3 draw. The University s 5th team won the other game 2-1 against Hemyock.
Division Four was to stage two matches, but Uplyme had to postpone against the University 6ths because of a waterlogged ground, and the game at Colyton Res where Bickleigh were leading 6-1 was abandoned after 71 minutes due to a very bad injury.
INTERMEDIATE DIVISIONS
Divison Five leaders Starcross Dons racked up their sixth straight victory but it was close as they got over the 3-2 at home to the University 7ths. St Martins Res won a thriller at Awliscombe United 4-3 while Whipton & Pinhoe Res collected their first victory 3-1 at home to Exeter United.
Three late goals saw Bampton cling to top spot in Division Six as they won a cracker against the City Raiders 3-2.
The Railway FC won 5-1 at Exeter Royals who gave them a much better game than the scoreline indicates.
Whipton & Pinhoe Res are up to third after winning 4-2 against Cheriton Fitzpaine Res, Witheridge Res won an entertaining match at home to Sandford Res 5-3, and what a day for Axmouth United who were beaming after a 3-0 win and putting the Beacon Knights lights out at the KGV playing fields.
Division Seven leaders City Raiders Res were held goalless by Bradninch, a big result for the mid Devon side.
Uplowman Athletic were also held 4-4 in a corker at home to Priory, so North Tawton moved closer to the top after they won 2-0 at home to a battling Phoenix United.
Westexe Park Rangers Res won another close game 3-2 at Newton St Cyres Res, but possibly one of the days biggest upsets saw Tedburn St Mary Res get their first points with a shock 2-1 win at the University 8ths.
Golas galore in Division Eight not least at Amory Rovers where they folded to a 12-0 battering by Lympstone Res.
Millwey Rise Res won 9-1 at home to Starcross Dons Res, Farway United Res won 3-2 at home to Okehampton 3rds, and leaders Heavitree Res with a nap hand at home to City Raiders 3rds who had no reply.
