The first quarter of the new year starts with a quarter of our matches defying the rains

Saturdays round up January 6th

Rain and more rain took its toll on the first new year programme but a quarter fo the matches due to take place were played. All six Premier matches were washed away, but Elmore Res and Sidmouth Town Res have agreed to try again this coming wednesday at Horsdon Park. Current leaders Kentisbeare were denied action at Colyton although the home side did their best to keep the game on, and as Kents are due to play a cup tie this coming saturday, may be dislodged from top spot.

Yet Division One saw action in three of their fixtures with leaders St Martins opening an eight point gap in a 2-1 win against a stubborn Newton St Cyres who on this form are set to climb the table in the new year.
A remarkable result at East Budleigh where their 7-5 win at home to Ottery St Mary Res kept the spectators warm, while Lympstone beat high flying Teignmouth 2-0 in the other match played.

Clyst Valley Res soared to the top of Division Two following their 4-1 win at Feniton Res who had hoped to climb out of the bottom three.
Seaton Town eased their plight with a 3-2 win at home to Tipton St John who face a big test to get away from danger in the coming months.

All five Division Three matches were weather victims, and the only other senior match played was in Division Four with AFC Morchard Bishop looking to get up amongst the leaders inflicting just a second defeat of the season on the Heart of Oak at Countess Wear.

Division Five saw all three matches wiped away and just one game played in Division Six the derby clash at Withycombe common where Otterton were denied the chance to take over from leaders Railway FC beaten 2-1 by the Ex Dons, which also announced their hopes of moving in on the top three.

Bradninch won their Division Seven mid table clash against Newton St Cyres Res 7-2, but the top game between North Tawton and current leaders City Raiders Res ended all square at 1-1, leaving the top four with just a point between them.

One game played in Division Eight with Millwey Rise Res able to field a full side and run amok against visitors Amory Rovers 11-0.
