Wet weather again took its toll on the action on the first saturday of March notably in the County cup where both Lympstone had to call off their Devon Senior Cup semi final at home to Newton Abbot Spurs Res and Starcross Dons Devon Intermediiate cup semi final against the Railway FC was postponed by the referee just 30 minutes before kick off. It means that both ties will now swap over and County will probably confirm this on monday.

The three Premier matches due to be played at Alphington, Sandford and Winkleigh were all washed out, but three of the four Division One matches scheduled were played and produced some high scoring and a big return for the University Res who beat Teignmouth Res 6-2. The victory takes the students to within reach of leaders St Martins and with matches in hand are looking very strong.
Third place Wellington Res won their penultimate away game at Ottery Res 5-3, and Hatherleigh Town continued their great form on the road with a 4-2 win at Newtown Res who would admit their home record is letting them down.

The weather also accounted for a complete wipeout in Division Two, but Division Three saw three games sorted with leaders Witheridge keeping their 100% record with a narrow 2-1 success at Heavitree United.
East Budleigh Res accounted for Lyme Regis Res 5-0 and the University 5ths won 4-1 at home to Sidmouth Town 3rds at Duckes meadow.

There was a big surprise in the only game played in Division Four where struggling Colyton Res won 3-2 against leaders Bickleigh, which was only their second defeat of the season.

No matches played in either Divisions Five or Six, and in Division Seven the clash between the University 8ths and South Zeal United was abandoned after just 30 minutes with the visitors leading 2-1.

Just one survival in Division Eight at the Exwick hub where Alphington 3rds 6-1 win against Okehampton Argyle 3rds saw them go top.

In local cup ties the East Devon Senior cup clash between Crediton Res and Elmore Res fell foul of the weather and all four Grandisson cup ties were postponed as well. However there is a tie taking place today (sunday) at Furzebrake with Beer Albion Res taking on Premier high flyers Kentisbeare.

Awliscombe United reached the semi finals of the Golesworthy cup with a hugely competitive 3-2 victory at Millwey Rise.
