Thors into Express final
University crowned Division 5 champions once the red tape sorted
INTERMEDIATE ACTION
A delighted Thorverton Res are through to the final of the Football Express Cup after a 3-1 win at Kenn Valley Uniteds KGV ground. As a spectator I can confirm lots of lively action, in a tighter game than the scoreline suggests. Goals for the thors came from James Vanstone, Will Hawkins and Chris Harlow. Starcross Dons are the thors opponents in the final.
The wait for the University to be crowned Division Five champions technically delayed. The college were due to host Amory Green Rovers but the Tiverton team were unable to make the trip due to lack of players so the students will need to wait for the game to be rubber-stamped as a home walkover, or delay their celebration to next saturday when the two clubs are due to meet again at Amory Park.
Division Six champions St Thomas Social Club won 2-0 at Falcons, Leigh Atkins and Dean Voaden scoring their goals and they still have two matches left to widen their dominance.
Runners up Uplyme were 5-3 winners at home to Bickleigh and delighted with their first season back. Wes Holmes with a hat-trick, Daley Holmes and Finlay Maclean also scoring.
Devon Yeoman won 6-1 at Seaton Town in the other game played which means the seasiders have sadly ended their season in the minus points position.
Just one other league match played that between the University and North Tawton in Division Eight which the college won 4-1.
In the League cup end of season tournament Priory booked their place in the semi finals beating Group C rivals Cheriton Fitzpaine 3-2. Ashley Parkes with a brace for Priory.
Fenitons Development team went top of Group B after their 4-0 win at Exmouth Rovers, while their two rivals Ex Dons and Cranbrook United were sharing a 2-2 draw. Steve Bampton with the Cranbrook brace, and the winners of their tuesday night meeting at Feniton will resolve who makes the last four.
