Tigers pounce at Feniton in Premier cup
Round up of the Premier cup and league action
PREMIER ROUND UP
Mixed fortunes for our teams in the Sportslighting Devon Premier cup second round ties but the Tigers stole the show. Axminster Town Res pulled off a superb 4-2 win to knock out Feniton now of the Devon Football League on their Acland Park ground. Goals for the tigers came from Aaron Daniels, Kieron Quigley, Sam Dibling and Jon Hurford.
Lapford powered through to round 3 with an emphatic 6-2 win against Meadowbank, and Elmore Res are also through after winning 4-1 at Premier rivals Ottery St Mary Res.
Joining them in the next round will be Beer Albion who were handed a walkover after the University of Plymouth pulled out, and also Kentisbeare whose hosts Totnes & Dartington also conceded without playing.
Sidmouth Town Res put up a gallant effort at Buckland Res but were edged out by the only goal, and Dawlish United bowed out 3-1 at Watcombe Wanderers.
All the cup action left just two Premier matches for show but they were both crackers. Thorverton soared into top spot with a hugely entertaining 6-3 victory against Colyton. Lee Radford led the scoring with a hat-trick, Ryan Moody with a double and Pete Eveleigh were the scorers. For Colyton Callum Somers with two goals and Jake Richards replied.
Premier followers take note there are two matches coming up next friday at Axminster and Ottery
