Two more down, more titles could be sorted this weekend
Big saturday ahead
Two more titles were decided this week with a jubilant Lapford winning the Premier West crown after wednesdays emphatic 6-0 win at Hatherleigh Town and Kenn Valley United beating Whipton & Pinhoe 6-3 to win the Division 4 crown with four matches to spare. Congratulations to both clubs and this week should see several more divisions sorted notably Premier East when the final match takes place on saturday at Davey Fort between Lyme Regis and Chard Town. As they have a better goal difference Lyme need just a draw to finish top, but a Chard victory would hand Feniton the title.
Otherwise just two matches taking place over the weekend Elmore seeking to consolidate third place in Premier West against visitors Chagford, who are at Hatherleigh on monday and need to win both matches to catch the eagles.
Otterton and East Budleigh are scrapping over the runners up spot in 1 East, and with a better goal difference the Otters may well feel they are already runners up although they will make sure with at least a point at Lympstone on saturday. Budleigh do not resume until next wednesday when they face Lyme.
Newton St Cyres have widened their lead in 1 West to seven points as they were victorious at home to Westexe Park Rangers on wednesday. Winkleigh their main rivals have Halwill as guests this saturday, and then travel to Tedburn St Mary next wednesday, needing to win both to stay close.
The 2 East title took a real twist last weekend with Ottery St Mary getting a 2-0 victory at long time leaders Axminster Town and following that up with a 3-2 win at Feniton. As the tigers suffered a four point deduction they could now be caught by the Otters who are at home to Pinhoe next wednesday. Axminster complete their season this weekend at Exeter United who usually perform well against the tigers.
Okehampton Argyle have to win their final game at nearest neighbours South Zeal United this weekend which promises to be a cracker. Anything less would virtually be enough to leave 2 West leaders Devon Yeoman and Central to sort out the title, although neither is in action this week.
Winchester will wrap up the 3 East title if Dawlish United drop points at Offwell Rangers on saturday, and Bradninch are closing in on the 3 West crown, but need to make sure of the points at home to Amory Green Rovers on saturday. Cullompton Rangers in third place need to stay close by winning at home to Chagford.
Who will be runners up in 4 Central behind champions Kenn Valley? Thorverton could be a major step closer if they tame Exeter Panthers this saturday.
Ottery St Mary will be 4 East champions if they manage just a draw with Exmouth Town on saturday, but four clubs still have eyes on the 4 West battle. Leaders Okehampton Argyle are at Lapford but the big game is over at Witheridge against Dolton Rangers, a real winner takes all. Bickleigh who were at Amory Park Rangers on tuesday night welcome North Tawton this weekend.
