Two more finals on saturday

Thors line up against the Dons in Express Cup, followed by Fenny and Whipton/Pinhoe in League Two cup

The Division 7 champions Starcross Dons and runners up Thorverton Res will contest the 105th Football Express cup final at Minster Park this saturday May 21. Neither side are strangers to each other having been rivals for the title but strangely the Dons lost both league matches to the thors, who will be out to balance the books with a curious treble.

Kick off is at 2pm. Thorverton last won the cup in 2010 when they beat the Lords XI 3-0 scorers Dawes, Stone and a Twitchen penalty, but it is 60 years since a Starcross named team won the cup beating St Leonards 3-2, scorers that day were Greenough, Willey and Simes. However there is a case for a more recent win as Langdon beat Morchard Bishop 4-1 in the 2016 final goals from Rysdale, Henly, Gregory and Brown.

 

Over at Topsham kicking off at 3pm is the final of the League Two cup between Fenitons Development team and Whipton & Pinhoe Res. This is the end of season tournament for Intermediate teams with two Division Nine sides getting to the final. If the two league matches between the pair are anything to go by it should be some game Whipton having won 6-4 at home and 6-3 at Acland Park.
