University on the brink

End of season tournament round up

INTERMEDIATE ACTION DIVISIONS 5-9

The University are on the brink of winning the Division Five crown after their 2-1 success at Elmore. Mitch Joiner and Tom Youngman were the college scorers, so the students need just a point from their last two fixtures. Corey Groover was the eagles scorer.
Upottery defeated Amory Green Rovers 5-2 in the other match in this section.

The University completed their Division Six season with a 2-0 victory at Sandford, and could finish runners up depending on whether third place Uplyme can scoop nine points from their remaining four matches. However Uplyme were not in league action and neither were leaders St Thomas SC.
Elsewhere Kenn Valley United won 3-2 against Falcons with Calum Finniemore, Jamie Sly and an own goal doing the business. Harry Jee and Bryan Mawson with the Falcons goals.

Only three Division Seven matches remain to be played but none this weekend.

The Heart of Oak cantered to an 8-1 win at Exeter Panthers to close in on the Division Eight title, a win from their last three matches should do the trick.
City Raiders beat Tedburn St Mary 2-0 with Jack Godfrey and Sam Winton goals, while Westexe Rovers beat the University 3-0 in the other match played.

Division Nine champions City Raiders won their penultimate match 3-2 at Exmouth Rovers with Noah Northcott 2 and Zak Squire on the mark. That was a blow for Rovers as Ex Dons jumped over them into second place after a 2-0 win against Hemyock, Ryan Bowyer and Josh Price scoring which also denies Whipton & Pinhoe who have one match left the chance of finishing second.

Lots of action in the Group Two end of season League tournament notably with Hatherleigh Town getting their second victory in Group A 2-1 at AFC Morchard Bishop, while rivals Whipton & Pinhoe started their challenge winning 8-2 at South Zeal United. Nathan Phillips 3, Tommy Frost 2, Ben Turner, Adam Vere and Leon Vere the scorers.
Cranbrook United began their campaign in Group B with a 6-1 win at home to Feniton, Kye Steward 3, Steve Bampton 2 and Jake Williams with the goals.
Whipton & Pinhoe first team opened their account 2-0 against Beacon Knights, and Priory did the same in Group C with a 4-2 success at North Tawton.
