Weather threatens a terrific final October schedule
Damp squib forecast on many firework clashes
Forecasted bad weather may well wreck the weekend programme, but there are some great matches scheduled for the last October saturday before the clocks are turned back. The outstanding Premier Division game is between leaders Alphington and third place Upottery, and if the home side slip up then Winkleigh could well see themselves achieve their goal as leaders when they take on an Elmore Res side which has lost all nine opening matches,
Elsewhere Kentisbeare have a home date against Sandford, Colyton host Clyst Valley, and Lapford welcome Okehampton Res seeking their first victory.
Division One pacemakers St Martins have an East Devon Senior cup tie at East Budleigh, so three of their four nearest challengers who are all five points in arrears will be seeking to close that gap. Unbeaten University 3rds look favourites with a visit from Ottery St Mary Res, Wellington Res are at Hatherleigh Town and Teignmouth Res away at Bow AAC.
Two top games in Division Two sees draw specialists Clyst Valley Res up against leaders Farway United, and second place Central welcoming Beer Albion Res.
Tedburn St Mary still without a point are at home to Feniton Res.
No prizes for guessing the pick of the Division Three matches with leaders Budleigh Salterton Res up against second place Broadclyst who will be protecting their 100% record.
Witheridge in third place will be out to close in if they win at home to bottom of the table Lyme Regis Res.
Bickleigh take their 100% Division Four record just up the road to Elmore 3rds, unbeaten Honiton Town Res host a pointless Cheriton Fitzpaine, and the Heart of Oak prepare for Cullompton Res.
Division Five leaders Starcross Dons, seven wins from seven outings and 16 points clear, will be full of confidence for their Football Express Cup tie at home to the new Division Six leaders Railway FC, so it promises to be a corker. The Dons won the trophy two years ago so light the blue touch paper for this one.
Whipton & Pinhoe Res will be out to regain the Division Six top spot but fourth place Bampton who lost narrowly 2-1 to the Whips first team last week will not want a repeat.
Expect an electric atmosphere at Phoenix United where they switch on against ground sharing Division Seven leaders Uplowman Athletic. Third place North Tawton are at home to Westexe Park Rangers Res.
In Division Eight just two matches but sees Lympstone Res expecting to close the gap on the top two if they defeat Amory Rovers.
Cheriton Fitzpaine Res tackle Alphington 3rds for a place in the next round of the Devon Intermediate cup, and there are two Geary cup fixtures. Holders City Raiders Res defend the trophy away at Farway United Res, and Heavitree United Res winners some 53 years ago are at home to Bow AAC Res
