City Raiders steal the limelight
Jubilant City Raiders celebrated their first ever win last weekend when they returned from Newton St Cyres with a 2-0 victory under their belts. The Hamlin Lane Division 4 Central team managed just one draw but lost 21 league and cup matches in their first ever season, but finally have something to cheer. Goals from Jack Langford and William Pye did the trick.
That was the good news but the bad news saw two matches abandoned as three players suffered broken legs. The Division 1 East match at Teignmouth against Clyst Valley with just ten minutes gone saw two lads severely injured, and at the Intermediate 1 West match between Tedburn St Mary and Uplowman Athletic, another youngster suffered a bad break.
PREMIER EAST & WEST
On friday evening Exwick Villa enjoyed their first win of the season getting the better of Crediton United 4-1, and the West division saw plenty more action on saturday with Chagford setting the pace as they put paid to Hatherleigh 5-0. Franky Astill-Sheppard starred with a hat-trick, Reece Foster and Robbie Miller also scoring.
Lapford share top spot also winning 5-0 at home to Alphington with Dom Stapleton, Tom Broome, Harry Leach, Ben Tucker and Mark Tucker all holing out.
Elmore are the third joint leaders after a single goal win at home to Newtown.
Thorverton also went nap at Winchester but conceded twice. Mark Broome 2, Piers Mclauchlin, Chris Powell and Kieran Smith with the thors goals. Dan Tavender and Declan Vowden scoring for the Winches.
Dawlish United and Feniton share the leadership in East. Dawlish edged Whipton & Pinhoe 3-2 with goals from Richard Gregory , Ben Smith and Simon Coleman, Callum Hoare and Aaron Haizeldene scoring for the city team. Feniton won their second match at Sidmouth 2-1 with Ben Allen and Aaron Pearse on target.
Great start for Lyme Regis who won a cracking game at Kentisbeare 6-4. Joe Bond and Fred Parsons with doubles, Don Rendell and Brad Rowe adding single. Colyton won their massive derby at Seaton Town 3-2 Jake Richards, Callum Somers and Johndrick Gangoso netting for Colyton. Reece Best-Edwards and Lewis Cottam with the home goals.
DIVISIONS 1 EAST & WEST
Beer Albion, Otterton and Exmouth Rovers share the early lead in 1 East, The fishermen hooked in East Budleigh 2-0, Jamie Walker and Josh Lund scoring. Otterton needed just one goal for victory at Dunkeswell, Mark Dunne the supplier, and Rovers also did the job at home to ground sharing Lympstone with a single goal from James Clarke.
Lyme Regis completed the trio of 1-0 wins against Exmouth Spartans, Steve Batey their marksman.
Wellington are already the only team in 1 West to have a 100% record following their excellent 4-1 win at home to Bow AAC.
Sandford and Winkleigh sit second and third despite being unable to find the net between them at King George’s.
Westexe Park Rangers were too strong for Heavitree United 5-2, George Harvey with a brace, Shellby Butler, Brad Davey and Toby Hide getting the goals.
A double from Rui Alves helped North Tawton to a 2-1 win at Halwill, but despite getting a goal on his debut 16 year old Liam Saunders was on the losing side for Alphington at Newton St Cyres who won 2-1.
DIVISIONS 2 EAST & WEST
Axminster Town head East after their 2-0 win against town rivals Millwey Rise, Jamie Girton with both goals. Joint leaders Ottery St Mary won 1-0 at East Budleigh, Riki Pitter agains their matchwinner.
Impressive win for Cranbrook who beat Pinhoe 6-1, Don Mcdonald and Reece Saunders getting doubles, Tom Taylor and Jordan Wilkinson with singles. An equally impressive 5-0 win for Exeter United against Bishop Blaize with Sam Allen getting a hat-trick, Raed Khaled and Abdulazim Shamsaddin one apiece.
The West pacemakers are Okehampton after an 8-1 win at Sampford Peverell. Ross Voaden and Ed Squire both scoring twice. They share top spot with St Martins 3-1 winners at Broadclyst with Guy Hoskins, Joe Winsor and Hugh Strong scoring. Steve King replied with a penalty.
Ross Clotworthy, Cam Hayler and George Goodchild shared the goals for Central 3-2 winners at South Zeal.
DIVISIONS 3 EAST & WEST
Dawlish United top East after a 3-0 victory at home to Awliscombe. Joe Boyne, Tom Aldridge and and Alex Urry the scorers at Sandy Gate.
Winchester share the lead thanks to a 3-2 derby win at Topsham, along with AFC Exe who won 2-1 at Farway United.
Great start for Bradninch in the West division as they crushed Chagford 6-0. Broadclyst share top but they had to work harder for a 4-3 win at Central. Dylan Pearce with a hat-trick, Keane Linstead with the other goal.
2-1 wins for Bravehearts at Cheriton Fitzpaine and for Cullompton Rangers at home to Witheridge.
DIVISIONS 4 CENTRAL, EAST & WEST
City Raiders may have stolen the show in the new Central division with their historic first ever win, but elsewhere a very experienced Kenn Valley United top the table when they ran out 10-2 winners against new boys Exeter Panthers whose team of teenagers put up a gallant fight. Goals for Kenn came from Ben Saxton 5, Phil White 2, Ben McElroy 2 and Jamie Sly.
Single goal victories elsewhere for Cranbrook United, Thorverton and Cheriton Fitzpaine.
HT Dons head the East division after a 5-0 win at nearby Dawlish United. Darol Whittle with a hat-trick, Gary Brown and Sean Tapping-Davis with aces.
John Lacey had both goals for Falcons 2-0 winners at home to Bradninch.
New teams Dolton Rangers and AFC Morchard Bishop are in a four team group sharing top spot in 4 West. Rangers had to settle for a 4-4 draw at Sandford, Ben Mardon 2, Will Folland and Oliver Kingsland scoring. Morchard won 2-1 at North Tawton with Jamie Banks-Pryor and Jack Parkhouse getting the goals. Billy Whittle was the Tawts marsman.
Bow AAC head the table on goal difference despit being held 1-1 by Lapford.
