COUNTY CUP HOPES FOR COMING SEASON

The Devon County FA have made the first round draws for the three levels our League has teams taking part in and as a prelude to the first ties taking place in September a look at our chances.

Beer Albion have been our only Devon Premier cup winners in the past 36 years since Chelston in 1990 and Newton St Cyres in 1989 captured the trophy. Now they have returned to us following a spell in the Devon Football League, they will want to get their hands on the cup again, but what an opener with a derby clash against current Premier champions Upottery. That will pack out Furzebrake next month.
Another big derby with Feniton at home to Ottery St Mary having beaten them in the Morrison Bell cup just a few months ago.
South Zeal United in the cup for the first time ever host Bradworthy, St Martins welcome Thorverton, while Colyton travel to South Devon League side Chudleigh Athletic.

The Devon Senior cup has eluded the D & E League since the University 3rds won it four years ago 3-0 against Newton St Cyres, and this seasons preliminary round has just eight ties, but all eight involve our teams. Long treks for Dawlish United to Hartland of the North Devon League and Witheridge to Shebbear but all ties look crackers.

Ten ties in the preliminary round of the Devon Intermediate cup, but current holders Exmouth Albion have received a bye. The D & E League has featured in the last ten finals, five times winners and hopes are high that we can tip the balance to 6-5 in our favour.
