A BIG LEAGUE & CUPS MIXTURE THIS WEEKEND
SATURDAY OCTOBER 24
Just two Premier Division matches at stake this weekend and both within yelling distance of each other. Beer Albion have St Martins as their guests while along at Colyton it is South Zeal United looking for their first ever away point in the top flight.
Otherwise the remaining teams are in East Devon Senior cup action. Cup holders Crediton United are at East Budleigh who have never featurd in an EDSC final, and likewise Westexe Park Rangers hoping to get the better of four times winner Clyst Valley who first won the trophy some 71 years ago 1955 beating Axminster Town 3-1. No scorers known for Clyst in that final but the wonderfully named Derek Le Cocq was the tigers marksman. Four other ties to be resolved.
With Clyst in cup action joint Division One leaders Dawlish United could go clear if they avoid defeat at home to Kentisbeare, while Hatherleigh who welcome bottom of the table Elmore are seeking to close the seven points gap on the top two. Meanwhile Central yet to play on their own patch at Hamlin Lane are away again at the University who will play this on their main ground at Topsham Road.
A Lympstone win or draw at home to Division Two leaders Cullompton Rangers would rank as the upset of the day as the marine camp based outfit have yet to pocket a point, and Halwill will fancy getting their first win against a Newtown side which has lost its first three away meetings.
The top two in Division Three, Willand XI and the University meet up at Sampford Peverell, and Axminster Town host Starcross in the only other Div 3 league match.
Division Four leaders Uplowman United have Alphington as their visitors, second place Topsham Town with a derby date at Beacon Knights while Ex Dons sharing second place are away at Millwey Rise.
Bradninch without a win in Division Five are away to leaders Exmouth Albion the team most of their rivals feel will be hard to catch. Rivals Chagford are at Bampton who won both home matches they have played, while third place Priory stand by to face Tedburn St Mary.
In Division Six Brown, Cranbrook Town who host Colyton, would cheer their neighbours Cranbrook United if they can surprise leaders Axminster Town. Bottom of the table Offwell Rangers looking for their first point when they host Millwey Rise.
Only three matches in Division Six Davey but a big chance for Bow AAC to go top if they topple neighbours Witheridge.
Exmouth Albion the Division Six Webb leaders have a Geary cup date with Newton St Cyres, so a chance for Whipton & Pinhoe to slip into second place if they defeat Dawlish United.
Four matches in the Bill Slee cup and two in the Geary complete a very busy Saturday.
