CHAMPIONS TAKEN OUT WEST (EXE)

PREMIER

A surprise first league defeat of the season for Premier champions Upottery going down 3-2 at home to newly promoted and new league leaders Westexe Park Rangers. In fact the Tiverton side raced into a three goal lead through Hide, Parkins and Harvey with a rip-roarer, and although Upottery got two back they then missed a penalty. On this form Westexe might be tough to catch so could be developing into quite a title race.

Sidmouth Town lost top spot as they had the day off, but Colyton were unable to join them in second place as they went down 4-3 at home to the University opening their season. Conway had all three Colyton goals, but the students were a little sharper.

Beer Albion sent South Zeal United away beaten 6-1, and a 6-2 win for Feniton at Lyme Regis whose Symonds eased the pain with a double.

Crediton United 4-2 winners at Ottery St Mary, Grossett with a pair for the Otters, Ebdy and Perry getting singles.
