VIKINGS SINK THE RANGERS AND SWAP TOP SPOT IN PREMIER

Sidmouth Town stormed to the top of Premier replacing early leaders Westexe Park Rangers after a 7-1 success. The Vikings did face a Rangers side who were not at full strength but refused to blame that for a faultless vikings performance although Rangers did have the last word with a consolation goal from Ruskin.

The “hills” were alive with the sound of goals at East Budleigh 10-0 at home to South Zeal United without reply, so Zeals first league match at the recreation ground for 22 years did not end well. A hat-trick for Greenslade, two for Demetre, with Baker, R. Hill, B. Hill and T. Hill completing the rout.

Reigning champions Upottery into second place after a 3-1 win at Crediton United, McCreadie Taylor with a hat-trick there, but Colyton had their 100% record blown away at Wellington where the Somerset team won 4-2. Reed and Conway with the visitors replies. Star player Ackland with one of the Wellington goals, the other from Barrett, Bryant and Evert.

St Martins won their first match 4-1 against Feniton who are usually very solid at home, while Ottery St Mary and Lyme Regis shared the points from a 2-2 draw, Pitter with both home goals, Symonds and Rudkin replying.

However the match between Exeter University and Beer Albion was called off as the pitch was declared unplayable by the referee.
