PREMIER FOOTBALL BITTEN IN HALF BY STORM AUSTEN

Storm Austen bit a huge chuck out of the weekend fixtures but surprisingly the best part of half the League and cups programmes survived.

Both Premier fixtures at Beer and down the road at Colyton, made light of the weather with the fishermen held to a 1-1 draw by a St Martins team desperate for points and will have been very pleased to share with the hosts. Knight their man of the match.
However the game at Colyton didn’t really start until the second half. 0-0 at the break and then Colyton rampaging to a 5-3 win with Conway getting a hat-trick, and Clode and Olive adding singles. Mortimore, Metherell and Nicholas found the net for South Zeal who have still yet to take home a point from their travels.

So it was over to the East Devon Senior cup for an upset and that came at Clyst Valley where the Div 1 side knocked out Westexe Park Rangers 2-1. Jake-Murphy had an interesting game for the Valley, scoring, yellow carded, and then getting man of the match. Graham-White had their other goal.
Powerful performance from Exmouth Spartans at Newton St Cyres where the visitors ran out 5-1 winners. Chudley 2, Taylor, Welsman and Doble with the goals, Coull singled out as the star performer.
However the ties at East Budleigh v Crediton, Sidmouth Town v Lyme Regis and at Ottery v Teignmouth were postponed, and up at Wellington the referee abandoned the game against the University at half-time with the college side leading 2-1.
